While snow quietly covers Craig, the Missouri River Ranch team is hard at work readying the property for spring fishing. We are so excited to open our doors in April and share the beauty of spring in Montana with all of you. This is one of the best times to fly fish the the Missouri in unpressured conditions and escape the crowds. Come see why experienced anglers love April!
Dry fly fishing has moments of greatness as BWOs & midges blanket the water and our trout feed aggressively in anticipation of warming temperatures. The lack of crowds and fewer drift boats on the water mean that our April trout rise more readily than their summer counterparts.
April nymphing will put a bend in your rod all day long. Deep nymphing sow bugs will find large browns lurking in slower water, while short leashing baetis patterns will produce enthusiastic takes.
Streamer fishing will help you connect with large, angry fish who are just exiting their winter patterns or who have recently finished their spawn.
Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
