August 1, 2024
August is one of the most action packed months at the ranch! From evenings at the Cascade rodeo, to MRR field day competitions and beer-paired dinners hosted by Kettlehouse Brewing, there's a lot to look forward to (stay tuned)! Action on the river continues to be best in the morning, while afternoons at the ranch offer awesome outdoor activities from wade fishing to disc golf! Daily high temps will range from 85°-102°F. Flows are at 4,110 CFS with water temperatures at 64°F.
Dry fly fishing is good, but getting trickier! 4.5-5x and 10-12' leaders have been doing the trick in the mornings. Trico clusters are taking fish in the morning, with caddis, ant and hopper patterns providing good prospecting action.
Nymphing continues to produce fish over grassy flats with good success. Zirdles and rainbow warriors seemed to be the ticket this week.
Streamer fishing is not on the menu, but anglers can dead-drift thin mints & zirdles this time of year to good success!
Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
