Fly Fishing Update: Less than three weeks left in our season and MRR guests are taking full advantage of incredible weather and outstanding fall fishing! Whether catching a personal best brown trout, or having a private bourbon tasting riverside, the fall season is a guest favorite. Beautiful 70°F days, combined with aggressive fall trout have created ideal conditions. As of this report, the Missouri Rivers flows are at 3490 CFS, and the water temperature is 58.5°F. Take advantage of those dropping flows, and strip streamers over eager trout or cast to pods of rising fish! "October" rings the bell for true outdoors enthusiasts... there's no better time to fly fish in Montana. Explosive October Caddis eats and BWOs are starting to appear ! Anglers who prospect with orange chubbies, combined with a twitch/skitter, have been rewarded with some incredible dry fly eats. This method produces quality over quantity, and some extra large smiles for our guests. BWO's are spotted more regularly, and we anticipate some good hatches to begin this week. Nymphing continues to put fish in the boat. Running nymphs over shallow parts of the river, have picked up numerous fish who are looking to put on the feed before winter arrives. Streamer fishing continues to build. Whether running olive wooly buggers or thinmints over shallow buckets, or deep dredging runs with a sinking line, anglers have been connecting with trout river wide. This is the best time of year to practice your streamer fishing. Drop us a line and we hope to see you soon!
