Just in time for June, Dry Fly Action!

February 15, 2024

As June settle upon the valley, it means one thing for avid anglers: prime fishing season is in full swing in Craig, Montana. Bigger water, bigger dries, bigger fish!

Early June: Think higher flows, longer leaders, and non-stop action. While other rivers battle with runoff, the Missouri runs nearly clear. Trout are on the hunt for annelid species, making it the perfect time to test your skills with double nymph setups. Prepare for plenty of bent rods, sore arms, and stories to swap over drinks at our bar!

Late June: This is when the Missouri River truly comes alive with an unparalleled PMD hatch. Trout are rising in pods, eagerly feeding on these larger presentations. It's a transition from quantity nymphing to quality catching as anglers shift their focus to "headhunting" trophy trout. Dry fly enthusiasts, you won't want to miss this.

While June showers give us much needed water, it doesn't hinder the fishing! Be sure to pack your wading jacket and rain pants to stay out all day and take advantage of incredible spring fishing.

June is also the perfect month to begin stalking our 1.4 miles of private river frontage and cast to rising fish after a perfect meal in the lodge. We can't wait to welcome you this June!

Drop us a line and we hope to see you soon!
