April 8, 2025

In between setting up the lodge for an incredible 2025 season, our team and guides have been "hard at work" on the river making sure the Missouri is in top notch shape for opening day! From snowy conditions to 75°F and blue bird skies, the past two weeks of fly fishing the Missouri have been incredible. Current flows are around 3,600 CFS and the water out of the dam is just over 40°F.

Midges are still the main game, BWOs are just around the corner and some skwalas have been seen on the lower river. Anglers have been finding pockets of heads and expect the dry fly fishing to continue to improve in the coming weeks.

Nymphing is heating up as the river temp increases. Anglers are still finding rainbows grouped up in deeper slots, while browns have moved up shallower. This is a good time of year to exercise caution on the upper river and avoid fishing to spawning rainbows. Sow bug patterns, worms and midges are all taking great fish.

Streamer fishing is best on overcast days, with good action coming from brown trout that have begun to stage in spring water. Sparkle minnows, kreelex and thin mint patterns are all strong right now. Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch! This is sure to be an unbelievable season on the Missouri.

We hope to see you on the river this season!
