Peak of the PMD Hatch!

June 20, 2024

Steady precipitation this week brought about ideal conditions for the PMD hatch. Our guess is that we've just seen the peak of bug activity and our anglers agree. Tuesday was spectacular with blanket hatches of PMDs and rising trout riverwide. Missouri River flows are at 6,390 CFS. Water temperatures are still hovering at 57°F.

Dry fly fishing has been good, although pickier trout are here to stay. Rusty spinners have been getting it done when nothing else will! We had several large browns caught on dries this week and many personal bests for our clients.

Nymphing short continues to produce quality fish. Weight flies, frenchies, wireworms, split cases and zirdles have all produced quality trout.

Streamer fishing is not the best although some anglers got it done during our overcast days.

Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
