Roping Browns & Rodeo Time!

August 8, 2024

The ranch hosted a great group of guests and anglers this past week, who took advantage of cooler temperatures and fantastic August conditions. Great fishing conditions will continue as daily high temps began to cool off and will range from 71°-84°F. Flows are at 4,240 CFS  with water temperatures down to 62°F. Fish are happy and feeding well!

Tomorrow night, our group of 18 anglers will be enjoying the Cascade Rodeo and getting a taste of life in the Missouri River valley!

Dry fly fishing continues to be the best way to enjoy your mornings on the river. While hopper fishing this season is average, there have been some incredible days, lower down on the river. Tricos are around in great numbers on warmer days, while ants and caddis are still producing fish.

Nymphing up and down the river continues to be strong. While a number of patterns work this time of year, mending zirdles in-and-around structure seems to be the ticket to aggressive strikes.

Streamer fishing has been on the back burner, but a few anglers have reported hooking up on the cooler, overcast days. If this trend of cooler weather continues, streamer fishing may start up in earnest during early September.

Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
