Strong Summer Nymph Bite!

August 15, 2024

This week the ranch hosted two amazing corporate retreats! Our guests and anglers took advantage of a strong crayfish bite that has been present on the river and nymphed up a great number of fish. They also took advantage of exploring the front range and making incredible memories! Solid fishing conditions should remain as early evening rain storms have kept the daily high temps in check (81°-91°F). Flows are at 4,200 CFS  with water temperatures down to 63.5°F.

Small pods of rising fish can still be found up on Tricos, while anglers have landed trout on caddis and hopper patterns. Great casting, patience and a bit of prospecting have been the ticket to enjoying dry fly action.

Nymphing the upper river's faster waters has produced excellent action while mending a large zirdle pattern through likely water. Rainbow warrior droppers have been picking up fish as well. Upper river has slightly less weeds, but a firm recast will clear any obstructions.

Streamer fishing has been reporting a few hook-ups, but it's still a back-burner option until mid September!

Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
